Clint was already heading down the stairs when Coulson gave the order, sprinting for the chamber. He didn't make it in time to stop the door closing, but he did manage to take the guy out just as it shut, knocking him out with a blow to the head. They were probably gonna need some info on what this thing did, so killing him was not their best option.
